L.B. Nagar to Ameerpet is a direct trip on the Red Line with no change of train. It runs from the south-eastern edge of the city, where the highway to Vijayawada begins, straight through Dilsukhnagar, Malakpet, MG Bus Station, Koti and the city centre to Ameerpet. It is one of the longest single-line rides on the network, and the metro saves riders from some of the slowest roads in Hyderabad.

Step by step

  1. Board the Red Line at L.B. Nagar on the platform marked towards Miyapur.
  2. Ride 16 stops (about 40 minutes) to Ameerpet. The stop before it is Punjagutta, so start moving to the doors there.
  3. Get down at Ameerpet. Keep your ticket or card ready to open the exit gate.

Who uses this route

Ameerpet is known across the state for its coaching institutes, training centres and software courses, and many students from the L.B. Nagar and Dilsukhnagar side travel there every day. Office workers use the same route to change at Ameerpet for the Blue Line towards Begumpet, Jubilee Hills and HITEC City.

Best time to travel

Morning trains towards Miyapur fill up from Dilsukhnagar onwards, and the busiest stretch is usually between MG Bus Station and Ameerpet. Leaving before 8:00 gives you a much better chance of a seat. On the way back, trains towards L.B. Nagar are busiest in the early evening.

Starting at L.B. Nagar

L.B. Nagar is a terminal station, so trains start empty there. That makes it worth walking to L.B. Nagar from nearby colonies rather than boarding at Victoria Memorial or Chaitanyapuri, where trains are already filling. The station connects with many city and highway buses at the junction below.

Arriving at Ameerpet

Ameerpet is a large, multi-level station. Once you get down from the Red Line, look for the exit signs for your side of the road before leaving the paid area. The coaching institutes are spread along both sides of the main road, so the right exit can save you a long walk around the junction.

Other options

For trips to Punjagutta or Khairatabad, get down earlier on the same train; they are the two stops just before Ameerpet. If you are heading to Secunderabad instead, a better option is to change at MG Bus Station for the Green Line towards JBS Parade Ground.

Tickets for this trip

One ticket covers the whole journey from L.B. Nagar to Ameerpet, as long as you stay inside the paid area. Fares are based on distance and were revised in 2025, so check the current fare at the ticket counter or in the official Hyderabad Metro Rail app. A smart card saves time at the gates if you make this trip often.
