Miyapur to HITEC City is one of the most travelled commutes on the whole network. It links the large residential belt around Miyapur, Chandanagar and Bachupally with the offices of Madhapur and HITEC City. By road the trip is short on the map but slow in practice, because traffic through Kukatpally and the JNTU junction backs up badly at peak hours. The metro takes a longer path through Ameerpet, but it runs on a fixed timetable above the traffic, so the trip takes roughly the same time every day.

Step by step

  1. Board the Red Line at Miyapur on the platform marked towards L.B. Nagar.
  2. Ride 10 stops (about 25 minutes) to Ameerpet.
  3. Get down at Ameerpet and change to the Blue Line. At Ameerpet you arrive on the upper Red Line level. Follow the blue signs down to the Blue Line and take the platform marked towards Raidurg. In the morning the escalators queue, so stand on the side nearest the stairs if you are comfortable climbing down. Allow five to eight minutes for the change at peak hours and about three at quiet times.
  4. Board the Blue Line at Ameerpet on the platform marked towards Raidurg.
  5. Ride 8 stops (about 20 minutes) to HITEC City. The stop before it is Durgam Cheruvu, so start moving to the doors there.
  6. Get down at HITEC City. Keep your ticket or card ready to open the exit gate.

Who uses this route

Most riders on this route are IT and office workers heading west in the morning and back north in the evening. Students from the colleges around JNTU use the first part of it too. Because so many people make the same change at Ameerpet at the same time, the Blue Line platforms there fill up quickly between about 8:30 and 10:00 in the morning.

Best time to travel

If your office hours are flexible, leaving Miyapur before 8:00 or after 10:15 makes the trip far more comfortable. Evening trains back from HITEC City are fullest between 6:00 and 7:30. The first train leaves Miyapur at 6:00, which makes this a good route for early shifts, but remember the last-train rule on the way home: you need to reach Ameerpet in time for the last Red Line train towards Miyapur.

Starting at Miyapur

Miyapur is a terminal, so you can usually get a seat if you board a train that starts there. The station has parking for two-wheelers and cars, and auto-rickshaws wait at the exits for riders coming from the nearby colonies.

Arriving at HITEC City

At HITEC City, check the exit signs before you leave the platform. The station sits on a busy road, and choosing the exit on the same side as your office saves a road crossing. Many tech parks run shuttles or have bike-taxi stands near the station.

Other options

If Ameerpet is too crowded, there is no quicker metro alternative, because every Red-to-Blue trip has to change there. Some riders take the Red Line only as far as JNTU College or Kukatpally and finish the trip by road, but that brings back the traffic the metro avoids.

Tickets for this trip

One ticket covers the whole journey from Miyapur to HITEC City, including the change, as long as you stay inside the paid area. Fares are based on distance and were revised in 2025, so check the current fare at the ticket counter or in the official Hyderabad Metro Rail app. A smart card saves time at the gates if you make this trip often.

Common questions

Can I reach HITEC City from Miyapur without changing trains?

No. Miyapur is on the Red Line and HITEC City is on the Blue Line, so you change once at Ameerpet.

Which is the nearest station to Cyber Towers?

HITEC City station is the closest stop for the Cyber Towers area. Durgam Cheruvu, one stop earlier, suits offices closer to the lake.

Which platform do I take at Miyapur?

Take the Red Line platform marked towards L.B. Nagar. Platform signs in Hyderabad name the last station in each direction rather than a platform number.

What are the first and last train times?

The first trains leave the terminal stations at 6:00 and the last trains at 23:00. Trains pass mid-line stations a little after those times, so leave extra time for a late trip, especially one with a change.
