Uppal to Ameerpet is a direct Blue Line trip from the eastern side of the city to its busiest interchange. It passes the cricket stadium, NGRI, Tarnaka and the Secunderabad stations on the way, and replaces a road trip that is often slowed by traffic around Tarnaka and Begumpet.

Step by step

  1. Board the Blue Line at Uppal on the platform marked towards Raidurg.
  2. Ride 12 stops (about 30 minutes) to Ameerpet. The stop before it is Begumpet, so start moving to the doors there.
  3. Get down at Ameerpet. Keep your ticket or card ready to open the exit gate.

Stations on the way

Who uses this route

Riders on this route include students heading to the coaching institutes in Ameerpet, office workers who change at Ameerpet for the Red Line, and commuters going to Begumpet. On match days, it also carries cricket fans in the opposite direction towards Stadium station.

Best time to travel

The morning rush towards Ameerpet builds from about 8:30. On cricket match days, trains through Stadium and Uppal are crowded for a couple of hours before the start and after the finish, so plan around those times if you can.

Starting at Uppal

Uppal station is close to the Uppal junction and the main bus routes from the east. Nagole, one stop further east, is the terminal; boarding there gives a better chance of a seat on busy mornings.

Arriving at Ameerpet

Ameerpet is a large, multi-level station. Check the exit signs before leaving the platform, as the coaching institutes and offices are spread along both sides of the road.

Other options

For Begumpet or Prakash Nagar, get down a stop or two earlier on the same train. For the IT corridor, stay on the same train past Ameerpet towards Raidurg.

Tickets for this trip

One ticket covers the whole journey from Uppal to Ameerpet, as long as you stay inside the paid area. Fares are based on distance and were revised in 2025, so check the current fare at the ticket counter or in the official Hyderabad Metro Rail app. A smart card saves time at the gates if you make this trip often.

Common questions

Is Uppal to Ameerpet a direct metro?

Yes. Both stations are on the Blue Line, so you board the platform towards Raidurg and ride 12 stops.

How long does it take?

About 30 minutes on the train.

Which platform do I take at Uppal?

Take the Blue Line platform marked towards Raidurg. Platform signs in Hyderabad name the last station in each direction rather than a platform number.

What are the first and last train times?

The first trains leave the terminal stations at 6:00 and the last trains at 23:00. Trains pass mid-line stations a little after those times, so leave extra time for a late trip, especially one with a change.
